Both sectors of the market have been gaining popularity over the years, but historically they have faced a lot of adversity.
Do we still know what true freedom is?
Did things really used to be better? In our daily dilemmas, there is often a longing for other times - those we remember from our childhood or know only from the stories of older generations. Our present is characterized by tremendous technological advances. As long as we have come to be in a privileged place on earth, we have a chance to live comfortably and safely.
So why the pervasive sentiment for something that has passed? It seems that the answer may be the diminishing freedom of the individual. No matter how great your intelligence as a representative of the human species, you are only (or as much as) an animal, a mammal. We are designed to explore space through our senses and live in symbiosis with the world around us. Mother Nature provides us with remedies for practically every disease or various kinds of building blocks that allow us to create our own corner of the world. Over the centuries we have learned to use them. However, widespread consumerism has provided simple and quick solutions for already. These are slowly killing the need in us to learn to relate to the environment.
There are many super plants that have helped the human species evolve over the years. These include, but are not limited to, all varieties of hemp. For many years, man has used them on a massive scale. At some point, however, they began to stir up controversy and were forgotten. How did it come to a situation where we stopped enjoying their amazing benefits? Take a look at the rest of the article, where we will discuss the history of these plants in Poland's backyard.
History of hemp in Poland
Hemp came to Europe as early as the 15th century. p. n. e. and shortly thereafter also appeared in Poland. These plants were treated as magical. Decoction of THC-containing plants was a popular natural painkiller. Their addition to various dishes was also widely appreciated - for example, the fats contained in the seeds were widely valued as a strengthening ingredient for the body.
Over time, people discovered more uses for hemp. The use of seed varieties in textile production was becoming increasingly popular. This is because the natural fibers produced from them are characterized by very high strength. It is worth mentioning here that at the beginning of the 20th century, Poland had more hemp crops than the whole of Europe.
Unfortunately, in this time of the century, people have begun to dramatically change their approach to industry and medicine. Natural medicines have been replaced by chemicals, and the development of technology has fostered mass solutions. At the same time, circular activities led to the destruction of many farms that grew hemp and other crops. With two world wars, the world underwent a significant reevaluation. Several market sectors, including hemp cultivation, have begun to lose ground.
This is also the first time that a negative policy on these plants has appeared. After World War I, more and more people turned to intoxicating substances. Thus, in 1930, the Ministry of the Interior declared hemp harmful to health. As a result, any variety containing psychoactive substances was covered by the anti-narcotic law of June 23, 1923.. This provision had the effect of prohibiting the manufacture, processing, export and import, as well as the circulation of narcotic substances.
Hemp in times of war and today
Already during the Second World War on Polish territory, cannabis again ceased to be a prohibited substance. Unfortunately, a few years of negative policies were enough for people to forget about the health-promoting properties of hemp, the benefits of which our species has enjoyed for hundreds of years.
Then we came full circle again. After World War II, hemp again faced harsher policies. However, a short time later, during the communist era, Poland was again characterized by a liberal drug policy. Possession and cultivation of cannabis containing THC has become legal. Hemp as a raw material for fiber production has started to gain value again. However, it did not last long. The development of heavy industry has begun to put quantity before quality. At the same time, in the late 1980s. Intense drug policies began again in the 1990s.
Today, the use of hemp seems to be experiencing another renaissance. A lot of solid research devoted to these ubiquitous plants allows a new appreciation of their wide range of uses. By using hemp as a medicine, cosmetic ingredient, fiber or building block for homes, you are taking part in a revolution that is happening before our eyes. Consumer awareness is changing significantly. Again, we appreciate and respect nature.
Continued bans and loosening of regulations show lack of understanding of hemp market. Its current development results in a huge cash inflow to the state budget. We, as consumers of hemp products, can make more informed decisions about our health and environmental impact. The current win-win situation was impossible for nearly a century.
Cryptocurrencies and the right to privacy
Cryptocurrencies were created to give their users freedom of choice. And this is not at all about the privacy of the transaction. It is important to remember that nothing is lost in the blockchain. There is still a wrong-headed belief that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are tools for criminals who want to hide the origin of their funds. Nothing could be further from the truth. The case of Silk Road, a darknet trading platform, is worth mentioning here. Internet criminals using cryptocurrencies have been caught precisely because of the public record of all transactions.
Of course, hiding the transaction is possible through the use of cryptocurrency mixers, or the use of private coins. However, these are not common solutions. However, it is still an interesting option for people who, for various reasons, do not want to disclose their data. It is worth noting here that it is not necessarily a matter of using cryptocurrencies for illegal purposes. Sometimes even a noble idea can turn out to be controversial.
To illustrate this claim, I will use the example of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The cryptocurrency community has donated a total of hundreds of millions in cryptocurrencies to the country affected by Russian aggression for a variety of purposes. Among them, of course, was the purchase of weapons. Financial support for such an initiative is not necessarily something one would want to leave a trace of online.
So it's good to be aware that there is such a possibility, although using it is very rare. Hiding your transactions in the world of cryptocurrencies is far less popular than covering them up with cash. However, despite the controversy surrounding the use of cryptocurrency mixers, it is worth making clear - we have the right to do so. The right to privacy is one of the basic constitutional human rights. Unfortunately, we are already used to having it taken away from us one small piece at a time.
Decentralization the road to freedom
Another issue related to freedom is the chance to decide your own means. Cryptocurrencies and decentralized wallets offer an alternative to centralized banking institutions. It is worth being aware that the bank's obligation is to keep only a negligible portion of the funds deposited. Commercial banks are required to pay only the established fractional reserve rate to the central bank, which in Poland is currently 3.5%. They can turn the rest of the funds in any way they like, including by granting loans. Such a low rate means a very low level of security for the banking system. In the case of a banking panic (from the. bank run), triggered, for example, by unexpected geopolitical events, it is virtually certain that most of the establishments will not be able to withdraw all the funds placed in them.
Cryptocurrencies are the solution to this problem. By keeping the funds in a wallet that only you have access to, you have full control over them. You can make investment decisions by investing the funds you collect in your choice of cryptocurrencies and other assets, or simply store them in stablecoins (tokens that maintain parity with fiat currencies), minimizing exchange rate fluctuations. No matter what may happen, thanks to blockchain, the funds will forever be assigned to your portfolio.
Holding at least some of your funds in cryptocurrencies thus seems ideal, but it means a loss for banks and those in power. Control is literally slipping out of their hands. So this leads to bans on digital assets in individual countries. However, such actions are meaningless. Due to decentralization, anyone willing to do so is able to acquire and store cryptocurrencies.
More benefits
It seems that the best step for governing bodies is to fully approve both the trading of cryptocurrencies and cannabis products. Favorable regulation for these two market sectors is a benefit to both users and the country's budget. HUBBurger combines these two industries and, by pursuing a policy of raising consumer awareness, is greatly exemplifying the revolution of the entire world.
